You cannot mention music without having included Phash The Passionate’s name. However, Phash has spent over a decade sharpening his content writing skills, editorial, digital newsletter packaging, music industry and digital media knowledge.
It was his sharp musical skills that made him to work closely with Thabiso ‘Thasman’ Tsotetsi (known for producing smashing hits including HHP’s hit ‘Bosso Ke Mang’) on two projects, 2010 Gauteng Songs Competition and Puisano – projects funded by Gauteng Arts and Culture.
But Phash’s musical ear can be traced back to the days when he was part-owner, MD and editor-in-chief for the online music magazine, Music Industry Online – 2004 to 2013. Throughout his journey at MIO, Phash was instrumental in establishing content plan for the targeted audience, social media strategy, three weekly newsletter content and working closely with the sales team.
Furthermore, Phash has in the past take part in a number of music industry initiatives, including judging the South African Music Awards (SAMA) for 4 years and Metro FM Music Awards in 2011.
Phash has been known as a South African music critic since 2007. In 2007/8, his in-depth understanding of the South African sound paved the way for him to become a regular critic on Metro FM’s “The Ultimate” with Penny Lebyane. Since then, Phash has been invited to share his music knowledge in various music conferences including Moshito and also in the neighboring countries like Botswana.
In 2008 Phash expanded his musical skills to the TV world when he composed theme song for SABC 1 reality show, Heart Core. Through his industry experience, Phash has worked with music industry bodies, record labels, artists and industry personnel.
In 2014, the talented music genius was at it again with yet another composition, ‘Uyiyo’ which features vocal offering of Zimkitha Gebeda. The song was used as a theme for SABC 1’s show, 100% Youth. The very same year, Phash was asked to jot a song for another SABC 1 show, Come Again.
After trying his luck in so many radio stations without a success, The Passionate One finally found a new home… Nation Radio where he cohost a Saturday show, The Dudes Nextdoor airing from 12h00 to 15h00.
